While eagerly packing his snorkel into his suitcase for his first vacation ever, Drew suddenly wonders . . . what if he is going to a place where no one has ever seen anyone quite like him before?
When Drew’s parents plan a vacation, he’s worried that the folks he meets might make fun of him for his unusual looks. But Drew decides to take a chance, agrees to go, and ends up having oodles of fun! With the help of some new pals, he learns that everyone has qualities that make them unique and special. Together, the friends muster up the courage to enter a sandcastle building contest and go for the gold!
Drew’s Big Vacation is a warm and joyful story about feeling shy, facing fears, and embracing individuality for readers of all ages. Kids will feel like they are alongside Drew on vacation and will adore meeting his memorable friends and sharing in the adventures of this unlikely little superhero.
About the Author and Illustrator
Valdine Zakzanis finds great joy in the process of weaving pieces from her family’s zany life into stories that children and parents can identify with and enjoy together. This is her first book, with more in the works.
Valdine enjoyed a successful career within the private aviation industry, and although now retired, she still embraces the opportunity to embark on traveling adventures. She shares her journeys with her husband and two charismatic cartoon-like little dogs who both seem to be under the impression that they are in charge. Valdine and her family live in Ontario, Canada.
Bonnie Lemaire is a graduate of Ontario College of Art’s Communication and Design program, specializing in medical illustration. Her first position as artist/designer was with Ganz and Brothers Canada, designing figurines and teddy bears! Bonnie works in her home studio located in a small Hamlet in Northern Ontario, Canada, surrounded by her loving family and furry friend Crowquill the studio cat. Bonnie’s eccentric creations within fantastical stories have brought smiles to small faces and delight to her readers all over the world.
