How to Thrive Under Fear-Based Leaders
Kate Lowry
Feeling stuck with a fear-based leader? You’re not powerless—and you’re not alone.
In our fast-changing world, fear-based leaders rise quickly—tightening their grip as chaos grows. But what if you could learn to predict their behavior, neutralize their impact, and protect what matters most?
Unbreakable is your tactical guide to thriving under fear-based leadership. Written in short, digestible chapters, this book shows you how to manage up, set boundaries, and stay anchored—without losing your job, your values, or your sanity. Drawing on decades of experience in start-ups, venture capital firms, big tech, and consulting, Kate Lowry offers a master class in navigating high-control, unstable environments with clarity and agency.
With real-world tactics and reflection questions throughout, this book is your roadmap through the fog. Whether you’re up against a tough boss, a top-down family leader, or a completely broken system, Unbreakable helps you move forward—calmly, bravely, and on your terms.
About the Author
Kate Lowry is a CEO coach, venture capitalist, and author based in Silicon Valley. Her work focuses on activating agency and helping people be more connected, strategic, and hopeful. She strives to help everyone she interacts with—readers, clients, and friends—to process difficult realities with grace.
An expert in fear-based leaders, Kate developed her methodology growing up in a personal fear-based regime, then refined her approach in the elite worlds of start-ups, private equity, management consulting, and big tech. Her greatest wish is that people facing bullies in the world know that they are not alone, and that they are more powerful than they realize.
Her coaching practice works primarily with mission-driven, underrepresented start-up CEOs, and her writing, both nonfiction and comedy, focuses on equipping people with the skills they need to live their best lives and on helping the world feel warmer and more human.
In Kate’s free time, you can find her writing music and comedy specials, exploring the local food scene, and cuddling her service dog, Annie.
