Michael Trudeau

People say to us all the time, “Oh, I better proofread my emails before sending one to you!” Well, imagine being the copy chief of Girl Friday. Not only has Michael never, ever sent a single email containing a typographical error, we believe he learned to speak in grammatically correct sentences. Not only can Michael answer each and every question related to capitalization and punctuation you could think of, he’s still fun at parties. It’s a classic Girl Friday combo. Michael received formal training by way of a BA in English literature and an MFA in creative writing. He’s also worked in publishing for over a decade and edited fiction and nonfiction by a wide range of award-winning writers—from Julian Assange, Amy Goodman, and Noam Chomsky in nonfiction to Pearl S. Buck (posthumous), Brandon Sanderson, and James Patterson in fiction and much more in between.

Michael got started in literary journals in Minneapolis, then newspapers, then textbooks and legal publishing in Boston while attending grad school. He went solo as a self-employed editor for over five years—while living in Latin America for a good portion of that time—and contracted with Girl Friday before joining the staff as copy chief. He’s also published a handful of short stories and essays.
